2-1-3 the human mind: The watcher theory

Our brains are built as layers:

1-     The core: the inner layer. Responsible for the basic autonomic functions that keep us alive; breathing, heart beating ….etc.
2-     The midbrain: responsible for perception, emotions, mental simulation (imaging scenarios and predictions)
3-     The forebrain: the cortex, the high-brian. The outside layer (crust). Responsible for language, processing …. This is the part that differentiates us from the other creatures on the planet…. That is what identifies us as human-beings
This cortex is literally ourselves

-          All the inside thoughts we hear all the time inside our heads, which sometimes and be very dark and crazy and just very disturbing; this is called "Radio Chattering"
This radio chattering is coming from the midbrain. It is very important to understand that this is not us; it is simply our brains talking to us, reminding us of what they think important
-          We need to understand this concept very clearly for a couple of reasons
1-     Not to be annoyed that much by how strange and creepy these thoughts might be, these ideas are not attached to us by any means
2-     Our brains a lot of times just speak the most creative ideas and solutions ever. The best way to catch these thoughts is to treat them as a completely detached conversation by someone we don’t know

-          The concept "The Watcher" is just a strategy used in Yoga a lot as a  strategy of meditation; is just to detach yourself (your forebrain- your identity- the real you) from your midbrain and to just "WATCH" these ideas as they flow around you. By this means, you can pay attention to these thoughts and ideas and deal with them the best way possible

2-1-2 the human mind: Physical primacy

-          Nowadays we know that our minds (brains) are just another physical system lie any other system in the body and its performance, health and functionality are connected to being physiologically well and healthy
-          So, the quickest way to mentally breakdown is to treat your body bad

-          A lot of times we are stressed, not sleeping well, not eating and drinking healthy and we just insist that we power through the day to get tasks done, not knowing that the decisions we make can be waaaay worse than taking care of our bodies and spend some time to recharge before continuing what we do
So we have to always take care of ourselves; eat well, sleep well, relieve our stresses, workout…etc.

By taking care of our bodies, our minds can operate at their best and just be ready all the time

2-1-1 The human mind

Businesses are done by PEOPLE for PEOPLE. We need to understand the human mind so we can understand how people (including ourselves) we make decisions

The best thing about this section is understanding and learning how to work with yourself first and how other people work

The caveman syndrome:

-          We haven't almost changed a lot on the biological level since we were cavemen, but the environment and our jobs has changed drastically
-          For example; the amount of info our minds process a day now is equivalent to eighteen years of data processed by our caveman ancestor!!!
-          So we have to accept the fact that we aren't built for this in the first place; out bodies are built for running, hunting, chasing preys…..etc.; for an active lifestyle I mean, not for the sedentary life we live now. We are not adapted for sitting in front of our laptops 8 hours a day
-          Just notice how children play and how they are being active all the time and you will know what I mean. Being active is the natural thing and forcing them to be calm and be glued to the table to study and memorize stuff is against what we are designed to do … it is just how we force them to adapt to the environment and lifestyle they are going to live
Be compassionate about yourself and know that it is a hard task for your body to adapt to the life we live now
